Zakynthos is a small, cosy island in the Ionian - and easier to get to than you’d think. Flights, hotel, transport and how long the taxi takes.
The Venue
A small estate on the western cliffs of Zakynthos, just outside the village of Alykanas - about 30 minutes from the airport and 30 minutes from the hotel block in Tsilivi.
Zakynthos has its own international airport (Dionysios Solomos · ZTH).
Direct flights run from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Göteborg, Copenhagen and all major hubs (London, Stockholm, Amsterdam etc).
There are also many 1-stop flights from Göteborg with Austrian Airline/Lufthansa group. Check them out if you want cheaper flights, or a shorter holiday!
We will be staying at Hotel Contessina. It is a gorgeous 5-star hotel.
We have spoken to the hotel and they have said they can offer individual deals to anyone who emails. However, we found that their prices were not much better than booking on separate sites.
All rooms include breakfast and can be upgraded to half-board.
You can currently book package holidays to Hotel Contessina with TUI.se/TUI.co.uk and Jet2.com, if you'd like to buy a package holiday early.
Note that TUI.se packages from Gothenburg currently only allow booking a suite, so booking flights and the hotel separately will work out cheaper!
If you are a family with younger children, we recommend looking at TUI SUNEO Tsilivi Admiral. It is a stunning 3-star+, all-inclusive hotel, 5 minute walk from the water park and the beach, and only a 10 minute walk from Hotel Contessina. This hotel is exclusive to TUI, so can be booked via their package holidays.
There are many other amazing hotels in the area (but avoid Tsilivi Beach Hotel, due to bad reviews, room flooding & bed bugs). There are also villas and apartments on booking.com if you'd like a more private space to enjoy your holiday.
We highly recommend staying nearby to these two hotels, for ease of getting the coach to and from the wedding venue. Taxis can be unreliable and there are no taxi apps like Uber in Zakynthos
Getting around
Available at arrivals, no booking needed for up to 4 people. 25 minutes to Tsilivi; 30 minutes direct to Addi Mare.
Larger taxis can be booked for up to 8 people, or 9-12 people with Zante Taxis
Easy & quickOn the wedding day, we’ve arranged shared buses from the hotels to Addi Mare and back - let us know if you want a space when you RSVP.
No driving, no parking, no worrying!
IncludedThere are no taxi apps like Uber or Bolt on Zakynthos. So we recommend booking in advance with Zante Taxis.
If you plan to stay in another town, then please arrange taxis to and from the wedding venue, well in advance!

If you can, give it a long weekend - September is the best month on the island.
Welcome drinks at 19:00, location to be confirmed. Plan to arrive Tuesday or Wednesday, you'll not want to miss the welcome party!
Most guests will fly home after Sunday - but stay longer if you can. The island is quieter and more enjoyable late September!
