Zakynthos is a small, lazy island in the Ionian — and easier to get to than you’d think. Flights, hotel, transport, and how long the taxi takes.
The Venue
A small estate on the western cliffs of Zakynthos, just outside the village of Agalas — about 30 minutes from the airport and 45 from the hotel block in Alykanas.
Zakynthos has its own international airport (Dionysios Solomos · ZTH). Direct flights run from most of Europe through summer — book early; the island is busy in September.
We’ve held a block of rooms at Alykanas Beach Grand Hotel by Zante Plaza — a relaxed all-inclusive on the east coast, 10 minutes from the airport and easy walking distance to the welcome drinks and BBQ.
Getting around
Available at arrivals, no booking needed for one or two people. 15 minutes to Alykanas; 30 minutes direct to Addi Mare.
Easy & quickOn the wedding day, we’ve arranged shared shuttles from the hotel to Addi Mare and back — you pick a slot when you RSVP. No driving, no parking, no worrying.
RecommendedPossible at the airport — but Zakynthos roads are narrow and winding, and you’ll be drinking. Fine for midweek exploration of the south; not recommended for the wedding day.
If you mustWhen to come
If you can, give it a long weekend — September is the best month on the island.
Welcome drinks at 19:00 by the hotel pool. Plan to land by mid-afternoon — Greek airport pickups are not famously fast.
The BBQ runs late on Saturday. Most guests fly home Sunday — but stay longer if you can. The west coast is at its quietest after the 20th.
